Safe, local food, healthier and better tasting is in everyone’s interest. Its better for the environment, the economy, our heath and the heath of our commuinties. Shepherd Foods was conceived to meet that need. Our role is as simple as it is challenging; show the end user the value in a local greener food product and deliver that product.
Shepherd Foods looks to impact the food industry in two ways:
- Open up local markets to producers by connecting them directly to the their customers and promoting long term sustainability by passing higher margins back to the BC farming community.
- Provide consumers the opportunity to buy better tasting, healthier products that supports their local economy, and reduces the carbon footprint associated with food production.
I believe producing a value chain model is best way to deliver on these goals. The value chain moves food from farm to our customers in as few steps as possible, and holds each link in the chain accountable both to its own quality and the collaborative as a whole.
